Interzoo
Wiesbaden - The anticipation for Interzoo 2022 from 24 to 27 May in Nuremberg is rising: The organiser Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft Zoologischer Fachbetriebe GmbH (WZF) confirms the registration status of around 1,300 exhibitors from over 60 countries. This means that the world's largest trade fair for pet supplies will offer trade visitors a unique global market overview of the latest products for dogs, cats, fish and co. on a gross exhibition area of around 105,000 square metres.
"Despite the challenges posed by Covid-19, the global pet market has developed well in the last two years," explains Norbert Holthenrich, President of the Zentralverband Zoologischer Fachbetriebe e. V. (ZZF), which is the conceptual sponsor of Interzoo. Since the beginning of the pandemic, however, the supply chains have been severely disrupted. Production problems and supply bottlenecks were the result. Holthenrich sees Interzoo as an opportunity for new alignments and business initiations: "Manufacturers and buyers can once again meet physically at the world's leading trade fair in Nuremberg to make new business contacts and discover interesting products."
The high internationality of the fair ensures a global market overview: More than 80 % of the exhibitors come from abroad. Italy, Great Britain, the USA, the Netherlands and Spain are most strongly represented. There will be a total of 11 - partly enlarged - country pavilions from Brazil, Great Britain, India, Italy, Canada, Singapore, Taiwan, the Czech Republic, the USA and, new this year, from France and South Korea.
The WZF has seen an increase in the number of registrations for exhibition stands from some European countries, such as Turkey (+114 %) and Spain (+15 %), each with around 60 exhibitors. Stronger demand comes from overseas, for example from South Korea (+33 %) and India (+22 %), each with well over 20 and 40 exhibitors respectively.
Division of segmentsAs in the past, the largest share of products offered is devoted to articles for dogs and cats (47%), followed by those for small animals and rodents (10%) and for pet birds and aquatics (8% each). The assortment of supplementary articles for the pet trade is 6 %, as is that of Petfood Technology. Articles for animals in the garden amount to 5 %, followed by smaller shares of other segments such as specialist literature, shop fittings and packaging.
A strong international visitor base is expectedDue to the elimination of travel restrictions and the tried and tested hygiene concept, Dr. Rowena Arzt, Head of Exhibitions at WZF, also expects a strong international visitor base: "At past Interzoo events, around a quarter of the visitors always came from Germany and three quarters from abroad - around 42 % from other European countries and just over 30 % from non-European countries. We expect a similar structure for Interzoo 2022, although we anticipate fewer visitors from some Eastern European and Asian countries due to the situation. The importance of Interzoo as the world's leading international trade fair is not affected by this and the trade fair offers numerous opportunities for international contacts, discussions and business."
The new Interzoo App connectsThe new Interzoo App is available as a link between the digital and physical worlds and for a convenient overview. It can now be downloaded from the popular app stores for Apple and Android in preparation for the fair. In the app, visitors will find the most important information about exhibitors, products or brands, an interactive hall plan and a personal trade fair planner. Another practical feature is the Ticket Wallet, in which visitors can store their admission ticket and, if necessary, other documents. The digital contact management popular at Interzoo.digital is also possible via the app: visitors can network with other visitors or exhibitors, make appointments or exchange business cards digitally. This is facilitated by the simple scanning of QR codes on the name tags.
Framework programme offers impulses and insightsIn addition to the diverse range of exhibitors, the accompanying framework programme offers further benefits for participants. For example, the Petfood Forum Europe on 23 May, a full-day international conference, will take place one day before the actual start of the fair. Experts will speak about the latest trends, research and innovations on the pet food market in Europe. The conference, organised in cooperation with WATT Global Media, invites participants to exchange ideas and network. Registration is on a separate event page: www.petfoodforumevents.com/europe
With the opening of the exhibition halls on Tuesday, 24 May. A total of five Interzoo Country Sessions will provide information on trends and market data in Western Europe, Brazil, Scandinavia, China and the USA. The Interzoo Sustainability Session underlines the importance of sustainability in the pet industry. Trends and developments will be highlighted and deepened by best-practice examples. The session will start with a presentation by the Sustainable Transformation Lab of the Antwerp Management School (AMS). Here, the results of the latest Interzoo sustainability study will be presented and an overview of the current situation in the pet industry will be given. This will be followed by industry examples and tips on how companies can devote more attention to the topic of sustainability. A Petfluencer Session, contributions on aquatics and start-up presentations are also planned. At the end of each session there will be the opportunity to exchange views on the respective topic and to expand one's own network.
The world's leading trade fair is also a meeting place for international industry associations. This year's International Pet Associations IPAC Summit, the annual meeting of the European Pet Organization EPO and the Ornamental Fish International OFI will take place at Interzoo.
In order to be able to take full advantage of what the world's leading trade fair has to offer, selected lectures will be available on demand afterwards as part of the Interzoo Academy (www.interzoo-academy.com). Information on the ever-growing supporting programme can be found online at www.interzoo.com/en/events.
ZZF: Contact for industry professionalsThe Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft Zoologischer Fachbetriebe GmbH (WZF) and the Zentralverband Zoologischer Fachbetriebe Deutschlands e. V. (ZZF), as Interzoo organisers and conceptual sponsors, will also have their own stand in Hall 4. As a contact for the German pet industry and a mediator and representative of interests in political issues, the association will present its offers for members, its services in the field of education and training and information on the pet market. The stand is also the right place to go for questions about sustainability in the pet industry, aquatics and trends in pet care.
After a long day at the fair, Interzoo also offers an opportunity to celebrate: on Wednesday, 25 May, some exhibitors invite visitors to receptions at their stands from 6 pm. And on Thursday, 26 May, there will be the Interzoo Party. With food, cocktails and live music, the motto will be "Welcome back!"
