Revocation: CFC-containing coolants in aquarium coolers not banned
We would like to clarify our press release of 28 April 2023:
The ban on the CFC-containing refrigerant R134a applies to certain refrigeration systems used commercially. This ban does not yet apply to the use in coolers for aquaristics.
R134a, however, has been criticised for promoting the so-called greenhouse effect. The manufacturer TECO has been using the environmentally friendly gas R290 (propane) in the models TK150, TK500, TK1000, TK2000 and TK2000L since 2019, as it is also used in some household refrigerators.
There are different statements on the savings in energy consumption. The switch from R134a to R290, together with other product improvements, has led to reductions in electricity consumption of 30-50% for the corresponding TECO models.
