After many visits to various Kölle Zoo branches, I finally went to the main store in Stuttgart today. I was very excited because I was going to meet Thilo Schwarz there. He has been building plants for a long time; freshwater, marine and pond plants are his speciality. It was very interesting because we were able to see and document a real pond and seawater system. But read and see more in the article.
Our road trip took us to two more Kölle Zoo branches this weekend. This time it was the main store in Stuttgart, followed later by a visit to Ludwigshafen.
I particularly liked Stuttgart because we had the opportunity to see a 325,000-litre pond system and a 460-cm-long seawater system. Of course, everything can be seen later in the video.
First, the key data:
The Kölle-Zoo Erlebnismarkt in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen is conveniently located directly on the B10 and is open Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 8 pm. On over 2,000 m² of sales floor space, visitors can expect various insights into a fascinating world.
The freshwater and saltwater fish are presented in modern, clearly arranged aquarium systems and offer the entire spectrum of freshwater, saltwater and coldwater aquaristics. In addition to the small animal section, the terrarium section with a large selection of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates on the gallery is particularly popular. At the indoor pond area, visitors can meet tame Japanese koi.
Service and advice on all aspects of animals is provided by a 50-strong team, all of whom are specialists in their field and look after the animals with great care and caution.
As at some of the previous markets, there is a piranhia tank in the entrance area. There will also be a display there on Saturday at 4 pm. These are generally well attended in all the markets.
Directly after entering the market on the right-hand side, the pond area follows. The seating area is very well designed with several small tables where you can relax, eat and drink near the koi carp. Here Thilo Schwarz was at my disposal as a contact person. A guided tour of the market followed, naturally with a focus on seawater. Since Thilo Schwarz has specialised in pond, salt and seawater plant construction for a very long time, we were lucky enough to be able to see a large pond plant with him as well as a 15-year-old seawater tank and its technology. In any case, I enjoyed it very much, and I hope you did too. In any case, you can see in the video the high level of expertise in the interview.
.Now have fun with the 42 minute video
.Thilo Schwarz and his team have made a big impact on plant construction, especially in Stuttgart, where it has an enormous weighting. This is why we would like to show 3 picture examples here, to show what is possible there. The following pictures of the first example come from Interzoo 1998; Thilo Schwarz did all the filtering and set-up there.
The second example also shows a large-scale plant. The key data are: 330 cm L x 140 cm W x 120 cm H with EVO 3/300 paper filter and Lemtec LED and 500 KG live rock Indonesia. Was delivered in its entirety with a crane. It took 48 HOURS from the start of the work to the commissioning! That was a real challenge.
The third example shows a completely modern and yet highly up-to-date 10,000 litre seawater system at a customer's premises. This will be presented in detail in the upcoming trade magazine Koralle, issue no. 98. We have also kindly received pictures of this aquarium in advance. A few words about it: 6 metres long, 10,000 litres of water capacity, 13,500 complete water volume.
Now a few pictures, but the best thing is to get the new Koralle 98, which will be available from 24 March. There, this installation is documented in detail.
But now back to the Kölle Zoo Stuttgart.
Here you can find current pictures of the seawater department:
.For the sake of order, here are a few shots we were able to take during our visit to the Kölle Zoo Stuttgart.
